Perhaps the greatest contribution you can make to changing the
work-life landscape is to persuade your employer of the mutual benefits
that come from implementing work-life balance policies.
This website has a section for employers, with a range of publications
and services.

Why do we work with employers?
By helping employers understand the benefits of work-life balance
policies, and supporting and promoting best practice, we believe
we can make a real impact on the lives of many working parents and
carers. We know that, for every parent or carer who is able to negotiate
changes at work, there are many whose employer turns down their
request without even listening to it. And many more who are afraid
even to mention their family responsibilities.
So we talk to employers in business terms, bring the business evidence
to bear, and promote and celebrate good work-life balance practice
where we find it. Above all, we spread the common-sense word that
what is good for us as working parents and carers is also good for
our employers.
Our employer work is based on our 350 employer members, and includes
Best practice seminars and training for managers and HR or personnel
staff
The Working Families Employer of the Year Awards
which have successfully promoted work-life balance in the workplace
since 1990. Employers nominate themselves in one or several new
categories.
Balancing Work and Home in the Voluntary Sector, a Lottery-funded
project to promote work-life balance to the charity sector and to
offer information and support to managers and trustees.
Quality of Life in the City, an initiative launched in June
2001 by publication of a report into work-life balance employment
practice among City institutions, based on focus group research
with parents carried out February and March 2001.
